Clinical Counselor, Family Advocate and Teen Intervention--Full Time

CORA Services is a non-profit agency whose mission is to assist youth, children, and families experiencing emotional, academic, and social challenges which impede their development and productivity. CORA provides this assistance throughout the greater Philadelphia area.


CORA is seeking a Clinical Counselor to join its Clinical Services team, working in our Family Advocate and Teen Intervention programs. The Clinical Counselor is responsible for providing intervention counseling services as well as resource management services to adolescents, children and their family members with pre-clinical concerns related to use of or exposure to AOD.


Responsibilities include:


  • Provide individual, group and family counseling in the Agency or approved schools/alternate sites as appropriate.
  • Assess level of service need with families, develop and implement family-focused service plans, and initiate and facilitate appropriate referrals for clients as needed; advocate with and for clients for access to appropriate level of care placements and other agency support services.
  • Provide additional supports to clients through resource management contacts/activities; identify and connect clients to resources and supports in their communities; maintain an awareness of community resources and facilitate client/family access to appropriate resources and services necessary to support/ supplement direct services and recovery action.
  • Seek out and provide consultation with other professionals as needed.
  • Initiate and recommend appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Adhere to Agency and funding source guidelines concerning caseload requirements and accountability.
  • Generate and prepare all required statistical reports in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in all necessary interdisciplinary functions and meetings.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with school/community representatives in assigned geographical areas as appropriate.
  • Adhere to training requirements established by Agency or other regulatory entities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, as needed.

Qualified candidates should possess the following:

  • Master's level degree in one of the helping professions
  • Education or experience in family systems intervention/service essential
  • Documented experience in treatment or intervention counseling services required
  • Working knowledge of delinquency prevention concepts and the effects of substance use essential
  • One year experience in youth service setting preferred.
