Full Time Substitute Assistant Teacher-Early Childhood Education Center

We are currently searching for a Full Time Substitute Assistant Teacher. This position will be available from now until August 19, 2022, transitioning from regular school year to camp programming at our center, located in the Olde Richmond section of Philadelphia at the beautifully-renovated Huntingdon Mills site (2137 E. Huntingdon Street, Philadelphia, PA 19125). Candidates should have experience working in Early Childhood settings. This position is responsible for working with children ages 2 through 5. Substitute Assistant Teacher Pay Rate: starting at $13.00/hour (rate increases with experience and additional credentials)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4PM (NO WEEKENDS)

Substitute Assistant Teacher Responsibilities include:

· Plan individual and group activities to actively engage children and encourage cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

· Monitor growth and development of children based on established learning objectives using age-appropriate assessment tools.

· In consultation with Center Director, make appropriate referrals for children needing additional services.

· Establish positive relationships with parents and maintain frequent communication about student's growth and progress through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.

· Maintain individual student records indicating strengths and weaknesses in developmental areas.

· Participate collaboratively and professionally with other teachers and staff to promote the general well-being of the Early Years program.

Substitute Assistant Teacher Qualifications:

· Minimum of two years of documented experience working in a classroom setting with an early childhood population.

· Passion and skill for working with children.

· Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues, and families.

· Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.

· Solid organizational, leadership and problem solving skills.

· A strong understanding of child development.

· Familiarity with Keystone STARS standards, DHS regulations, and other government funding sources.

· Infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification.
