At CORA Good Shepherd Mediation, we aim to encourage peace, reconciliation, and social justice by equipping communities with the tools to transform cycles of conflict and harm. Our Restorative Justice department offers a range of programs designed to respond to systemic and interpersonal violence, including circle process, youth diversion programs, peer mediation trainings, victim-offender conferencing, and other forms of restorative justice education.
The Youth Diversion Facilitator supports young people being targeted by the criminal justice system by providing a restorative justice workshop that uses trauma-informed group dialogue, conflict resolution coaching, and popular education frameworks to empower participants to identify the root cause of what transpired, identify what resources they need to avoid reoffending, learn to self-advocate and de-escalate in conflict, and practice healthy decision-making skills. 82% of participants avoid reoffending after taking this course. Essential duties include preparing and maintaining training materials, setting up workshop space, and creating a safe environment for youth participants. This position is structured on an as-needed basis with most work hours taking place on Saturdays.
