Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. In addition, the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will support the parents/family members of individuals who are experiencing challenges as a result of substance use and/or exposure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Uphold the mission, vision, and values of CORA Services, which includes valuing all individuals, supporting the individual's potential for growth, and enhancing a programmatic service system approach.
· Provide recovery support to a case load of adults participating in substance use treatment.
· Assist in connecting clients/families to recovery oriented activities which may include accompanying client to recovery support meetings, assisting with life-skills related tasks, accessing a higher level of care, accessing MAT or connecting with other support services as requested.
· Identify emergency or crisis situations and facilitate access to appropriate resources, navigating systems to connect individuals.
· Provide support and guidance to family members experiencing stress related to the impact of familial substance use.
· Provide education about substance use and the recovery process to parents and family members of individuals receiving services at CORA.
· Provide transportation in a company vehicle for clients as needed.
· Input and maintain all documentation standards and data collection/entry processes.
· Participate in regularly scheduled individual and group supervisions.
· Serve in various committees and/or work teams as requested.
· Participate in professional development trainings/workshops as required by contract and departmental needs.
· Comply with CORA Services policies and procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Current Certified Recovery Specialist certification through PA Certification Board
At least 2 years current, sustained recovery history
At least 1 year post internship experience working with/assisting clients
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients and visitors, utilizing compassion and patience.
Family Recovery experience highly desirable.
Valid driver's license
